Reuse and Smart Technology at The Swedish School of Textiles

Where Innovation Meets Sustainability

At The Swedish School of Textiles, the future is about combining creativity with responsibility—not just in textiles and fashion, but also in the physical environment. When their existing Fagerhult Dome luminaires were approaching the end of their lifespan, replacing perfectly functional fixtures was never an option. Instead, they sought a sustainable and energy-efficient solution to breathe new life into their lighting system without compromising on quality or functionality.

From Old to New – A Smarter Choice

With this vision in mind, The Swedish School of Textiles wanted an upgrade rather than a replacement. They looked for a solution that would enable modern technology and smart control while preserving the existing aesthetics.

Optoga provided the Lilly80 LED module, a retrofit solution from Tedson specifically designed for Fagerhult Dome luminaires, equipped with DALI control for seamless and intelligent light management. Bogesunds EL carried out the installation, resulting in a DALI-connected lighting system that offers full control over brightness och operational status.

Smart Lighting for a Sustainable Future

With Lilly80 and 230V + DALI, The Swedish School of Textiles can now optimize their lighting based on needs and situations. Our solution ensures high light quality, compatibility with various dimmers, and real-time data on operational status and energy usage. It’s a solution that not only saves energy but also enables flexible and intelligent lighting.

Sustainability is the Way Forward

By choosing modernization instead of replacement, The Swedish School of Textiles has taken an important step toward a more sustainable future. This project showcases how reuse, technology, and collaboration can create innovative and long-lasting solutions. At Optoga, we are proud to have contributed with our expertise and technology to help realize their vision of energy-efficient and sustainable lighting.

Technical solution – Borås Textile Fashion Center project

Solution overview

To support the Textile Fashion Center’s goals of reuse, energy efficiency, and system integration, the following components were used:

  • LED module: [Lilly80]
A 230V integrated LED light source with built-in driver, low inrush current, and full DALI compatibility. Delivers high-quality light, long lifespan, and reduces load on the existing electrical system.
  • Control unit: [DimIn DALI]
A wired DALI interface for dimming, real-time monitoring, and fault indication. Enables reliable operation and optimized maintenance planning.
How the solution addresses regulatory requirements
  • Safe construction – The system complies with Swedish Electrical Safety Authority guidelines, using components designed for retrofit/conversion applications.
  • Control system compatibility – Full DALI functionality retained and integrated into the building’s existing automation infrastructure.
  • EMC & CE certified – All components are CE marked and conform to the LVD, EMC, RoHS and Ecodesign directives.
  • Professional installation – The system was installed by certified electricians (Bogesunds EL), ensuring proper labeling, documentation and compliance.
